about

"Beautiful, emotional, ambient magic." (Jasmine Kent-Smith // Mixmag)

"With tracks barely reaching 5 minutes, the UK based artist fills every available space with deconstructed house beats, highly emotional trip-hop and left-field deviations that seem like they take a lifetime to configure but a second to sink in." (Tome to the Weather Machine)

"Mor Air very successfully blends elements from various exciting styles of electronic music into his own personal warm beatscapes and ambiences." (Fluid Sonic Fluctuations)

'Life Behind Glass' is a finespun collection of watercolors, its immediate lushness the mark of a highly deceptive simplicity. These are open compositions, where sounds glide with real elegance, glimmering keystrokes sketch something of immense dimensions. Stripped down at all times, these compositions evoke the richest scenes: Elysian pipes blowing a sorrowful melody as a ship leaves harbor, grand woodwinds humming a heart-wrenching motif, a sleepless night spent in the machine room. Dream voices, soft pads, reassuring synth phrases wander around as overtly percussive passages gracefully unfold at times. This wandering motion can be thought of as a restrained, careful exploration, a pure immersion in some dense, sweet liquid.

Mor Air on the album:

“Despite its hushed halcyon tonality, this album was largely born of confusion and turmoil. Disruptions in my own life, compounded with living on a planet that seems hellbent on destroying itself brought on disquieting feelings of hopelessness, anger and sadness that often seemed insurmountable. Navigating any type of as online or in-person interaction felt equally pointless as discourse feels to have eroded into childish shouting matches of ever-escalating volumes.

This music was written as a hideout of sorts; rooms built for the purpose of disappearing, an antibody to act against the feeling of being crushed. A way to unplug from a civilisation that is as over-connected as it is disconnected. In these rooms I found catharsis, still waters and a voice to finally articulate the huge range of feelings left from losing a beloved friend to suicide.

My hope for you is that these compositions serve as a blank canvas, something you can retreat to and throw paint at until things start to make sense again. Soundtracks for the split-second gaps between thoughts that can turn into chasms if you’d only let them.”
